About Us
The North Down & Ards Voluntary Support Group is a support group for people with both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes as well as their friends and families.
We meet most months, in the period September to June, for a themed talk either about healthcare issues or other topics of local interest.
Did you know that there are over 65,000 people in Northern Ireland aged 16 and over who are diagnosed diabetic? Over 6,500 of those people live in the North Down & Ards area.
Our main aim is to be a resource for those local people. We try to help by organising events that will give people the chance to find out more about diabetes and to give people with diabetes, their friends and families a chance to share experiences.
We also raise funds for Diabetes UK to carry out its work in Northern Ireland - all funds raised in Northern Ireland stay in Northern Ireland.
The majority of our members receive their care from either their GP or the team with the Ulster, Ards and Bangor Hospitals. The South Eastern Trust have developed a site which can be accessed by the following link http://www.diabetesulster.com (The North Down & Ards Voluntary Group and Diabetes UK cannot be held responsible for the content of external links.)

Coming Meetings & Events
New Ideas
The meetings and events tab has details of our up and coming programme of meetings and fundraisers.
The Committee for the North Down & Ards Group is always keen to hear from people who may be interested in attending our meetings but would like to hear about something that was of particular interest to them.
Please contact the Group and we will do our best to get a speaker on that topic organised.
